New Master in Integrative Synthetic Biology MISB (CSIC-UIMP)

Registration for the new official master's degree in Synthetic Biology will remain open until June 11, 2021 Integrative MISB organized by the UIMP and the CSIC. The course will start in October 2021 and researchers from different CSIC centers will participate, such as the Center for Biological Research (CIB), the National Center for Biotechnology (CNB) and the Institute of Integrative Systems Biology (I2SysBio). The MISB aims to study the basic principles of life – and their emergence from inert components – as well as the design of tools that allow innovative solutions to problems related to the environment or health.
The Master on Integrative Synthetic Biology (MISB) is a two-year advanced research school (120 ECTS), co-organized by the UIMP and the CSIC, to provide postgraduate students (from the sciences of life and physics and chemistry to computer science and engineering) an integrated training, research and innovation program on synthetic biology in a cutting-edge scientific environment. The mission of the MISB – the first postgraduate studies in synthetic biology in Spain – is to prepare the next generation of synthetic biologists equipped with new ways of exploring living systems: engineering to understand and design biological complexity.
Basic data:
- 120 ECTS in 2 academic years.
- 4 theoretical-practical academic modules (90 credits) and TFM (30 credits).
- Maximum 20 students from Bachelor's degrees in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering or Computer Sciences.
- Online and face-to-face teaching, mostly in English.
- Rotation in various laboratories before starting the TFM.
